Very Rare Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Decoration of a Bird and Planted Urn Resting on a Table, Stamped "HAXSTUN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1880, straight-sided crock with applied lug handles, decorated with an artistically-rendered, top-to-bottom design of a large bird perched on a planted, cross-hatched urn, resting atop a table with stretcher base. Grand size and exceptional decoration. Restored flaking and cracks, with some spots of decoration restored. Restoration to handles. Light flaking at base on side and reverse of crock. H 13".
