Rare Six-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "CHANDLER MAKER," Edgefield, SC origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with thin, slightly-flared rim and very large tab handles, decorated on the front, back, and under each handle, with an iron-oxide looping line design applied over a greenish alkaline glaze. Inscribed "6" in iron slip. Large vertical Y-shaped crack under one handle, extending onto underside. Several cracks on underside. Horizontal cracks at base. Base chip. H 16 3/8".
