Exceptional Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Wallpocket, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, with footed base, scalloped rim, and applied arching hanger applied to rim. Decorated with a large applied figure of a bird perched on a plant with leaves and three stamp-decorated blossoms. Surface glazed with lead, copper, and manganese, over a cream-colored slip. (The central flower is most often found decorated with incised dots only). From a sixty-year Midwestern collection. Repair to bill and right eye. Repair to chip on reverse. Rim chip to right of handle. H 7" ; Width (at top) 5".
