Six-Gallon "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA" Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Freehand Decoration, circa 1875, straight-sided crock with lug handles, decorated with an elaborate fuschia vine decoration, freehand stripes, and a freehand "6" surrounded by dots and flanked by cobalt dashes. Further decorated with Hamilton & Jones maker"s stenciling below midsection. A boldly-decorated example of Western PA stoneware. Excellent condition with a 2" area of very light pitting on left side below handle. A few small chips to molding below rim. H 17 1/4".
