Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "CORLEARS HOOK," attributed to Thomas Commeraw, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled spout and ribbed handle, decorated with impressed semi-lunate or "clamshell" designs, highlighted in cobalt. Impressed on the front with the words "CORLEARS HOOK," brushed over with cobalt. Handle terminals decorated with cobalt circles. A good example of early New York City stoneware. Sealed circular crack on side. Small base chip. H 12".
