Exceptional 2 3/4 Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Incised Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1850, highly ovoid pitcher with narrow, tooled collar, decorated with an elaborate two-stemmed plant bearing two large blossoms. Various incised detail to leaves and flowers. Rim area decorated with banners and hanging grape clusters, with each grape formed out of an impressed circle. Incised decorations highlighted in bright cobalt blue. Outstanding size and bold decoration. Excellent condition with small base chips. H 14 3/4".
