Rare Straight-Sided Stoneware Pitcher with Brushed Cobalt Stripe Decoration, attributed to D.G. Thompson, Morgantown, WVA, circa 1860, tall-collared pitcher with straight-sided belly, decorated at the midsection with a brushed cobalt stripe and on the collar with vertical and horizontal wavy stripes of cobalt. Handle terminals brushed with cobalt accents. Albany slip glazed interior. Vivid color and outstanding form. Drilled hole in underside. Diagonal 4" crack from base, continuing partway onto underside. Spout chips. Height 10 1/4".
