Outstanding Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER & / G. GOETZMAN / ROCHESTER, N.Y.," circa 1860, straight-sided crock with handles, slip-cup-decorated with a flowering plant. Plant is bearing two different flowers, one with alternating dotted and cross-hatched petals and dotted stamen, the other a daisy-like flower. Slip-trailed "2" below rim. Maker"s mark highlighted in cobalt. Strong decoration and rare, early Rochester maker"s mark. Near mint condition. Height 9".
