Rare Stoneware Cream Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO," circa 1850-1880, wide stoneware jar with large lug handles, decorated on the front and back with a leafy vine of dotted Bell-style tulips. Interestingly, this example incorporates two styles of John Bell tulips on the same vine. Handle terminals also decorated. A beautifully colored example with a whitish, slip-coated clay and bright cobalt decoration. Mint condition. Height 10 1/4".
