Rare Stoneware Harvest Jug with Rainbow Handle, Stenciled "PALATINE POTTERY Co. / PALATINE / W. VA," circa 1875, tall, dome-shaped vessel with tooled spout on each side and rainbow handle across the top. Cobalt-stenciled in bold lettering "PALATINE POTTERY Co. / PALATINE. / W. VA" around a stenciled rearing horse. Very rare form. A phenomenal example of West Virginia stoneware. Large base chip and small base chip. Chips to one spout and minor chip to one spout. Height 15 3/8".
