Rare Pair of Elaborate Wrought Iron Candelabras, Belgium, 18th or 19th century, each resting on a scrolled, footed base with acanthus leaves, featuring five candle holders and three molded, silver-painted bells decorated with molded human and lion motifs. Bell hangers in the form of hand-wrought dog's heads. Candelabras additionally decorated with engraved line and star designs. Provenance: Originally found in a Belgian castle circa 1920. Later given to Carson J. Adkerson, a friend of President Franklin Roosevelt. Adkerson was employed by Roosevelt for the first Federal stockpiling of minerals not produced in the U.S. Both in excellent condition. H 78".
