This Western Pennsylvania stoneware jar is stenciled on a diagonal across the front
POTTERY It was made in New Geneva, PA, circa 1875. Above and below the stencilling are three thick bands of freehand cobalt. An incised line runs through the decoration. The interior is glazed with albany slip. Overall, a nice example of Western PA pottery with excellent gray and blue color contrast. |
