| Description: |
This is an exceptional, small-sized and early stoneware table pitcher, probably made in Virginia, possibly in Strasburg. This pitcher is extremely thin, indicating it was made by a master potter in the early part of the nineteenth century. It is one of the most finely thrown pitchers we have ever seen! It is profusely decorated with 3 large cobalt blue flowers and leaves. The sides of the spout are heavily decorated, as are the handle ends. This pitcher has a very attractive, early bulbous shape. It holds only 1 quart of liquid, a very, very difficult size to find. Few stoneware pitchers of this size ever come on the market. |

7" tall. |

Condition: |
|
This pitcher has several cracks and appears to have been apart and glued back together. A rim chip appears to be done in the making. A couple of other minor chips. Having said this, this pitcher displays very well and is still highly desirable. Cracks went together very well. A near mint example would command a price several times this one. |
