Description:

This one-gallon, blue-decorated stoneware crock is stamped below the rim, "P. HERRMANN," and was made in Baltimore by Peter Herrmann, circa 1875. The sides of the crock are heavily decorated with two large cobalt clover plants. The front of the jar is stamped with cobalt-highlighted advertising for a Fredericksburg, Virginia, merchant, which reads:

A rare piece of Virginia advertising for the Baltimore or Virginia collector.

10" tall.

Condition:

Excellent condition. Thin line near base, which extends to underside. Very small rim chip.
