Description:

1 gallon storage crock with cobalt blue stylized floral decoration, 1 gallon capacity mark and impressed potter's mark,

SOLOMON BELL
STRASBURG
VA.

In cobalt blue next to the potter's mark are the hand-written initials "CB," which more than likely stand for Charles Forrest Bell, one of the sons of Solomon's brother Samuel. Charles Forrest Bell probably made or decorated this crock in 1880 when he was 12 years old, at the end of the period in which the "Solomon Bell" stamp was used.

9 ½" tall.

Condition:

Excellent, original condition, with only a few minor rim chips.
