This pitcher was made in Strasburg, VA., circa 1865 at the William H. Lehew Pottery. It bears both a 2 gallon capacity mark and one of Lehew's earlier, scarcer marks with backwards "S"'s, reading,
W.H. LEHEW & CO.

13 ¾" tall. About 7 ½" at the base. |

Condition: |
|
Collar is mint. Chips at base, some of which are glazed over and occurred in the making. A very thin, vertical line (looks like a glaze line) that runs near the left of the handle; it is more visible on the inside, and clearly occurred in the making. Lastly, some lines on the underside, one of which branches out and travels a short way up onto the body. |
