Description:

Large, 3 gallon storage crock with blue decoration, marked under one handle:

S. BELL & SON
STRASBURG, VA.

The 3 gallon capacity mark is impressed under the other handle. Both of these handles are the outstanding wide, ribbed handles used on nice examples of stoneware and redware made at the S. Bell & Son Pottery. Moreover, this crock is decorated with sweeping swags on the front and back, as well as additional dashes added in between. There are also cobalt circles at the handle terminals.

Size:

13" tall. 8 ¾" wide.

Condition:

One old base chip. A crack down the back and a separation line in the bottom done in the making.
