Very interesting 1 gallon stoneware cream jar or bowl, most definitely made by J.D. Heatwole of Rockingham Co., Virginia c1850. The jar is slightly out of round and has the typical Rockingham County thick rim construction. Primitive in style and very folky. 2 deeply incised lines around mid section. |

A top-to-bottom crack has been professionally sealed, as well as a crack extending about 1/3 down the side and a 1" tight line on the collar. A few tiny chips. |
