This 4 gallon stoneware cream jar is stamped below the rim, H.B. PFALTZGRAFF & CO. YORK, PA The front of the jar is heavily decorated with a slip-trailed floral motif executed in a manner similar to decorations found on Norton stoneware of New England. This is a very rare style of decoration for York stoneware. The jar is out of round, as is visible in the photos. Albany slip glazed interior. Made circa 1875. Overall, a quality example of this famous Pennsylvania mark.
