Description:

This jug is deeply impressed with the maker's mark,

JOHN BURGER
ROCHESTER

above a bright cobalt blue 3, indicating the three gallon capacity. The flower and leaves are very detailed and realistic. Below one of the leaves are three hanging balls, resembling berries. All of the decoration is slip-trailed, and the potter's mark is washed over in blue. This jug was made c1860.

Size:

16 ½" tall.

Condition:

Excellent. A few minor rim and base chips.
