Very strong cobalt blue bird with extra leafy decoration on this bristol slip 3 gallon cake crock. Although not marked, this crock was certainly made at the Fulper Pottery of Flemington, NJ, in the late nineteenth century. It is impressed with a 3 gallon capacity mark above the bird. The cake crock is a form not often seen with Fulper pottery, and Fulper bird cak crocks are very unusual. Also, the extra leafy decoration is more desirable than the usual branch below the bird. |
