Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher, Impressed "BOSTON" |
||||
Back to New York, New Jersey & New England Stoneware |
Item #MABP01 |
|||
| Description: |
This early stoneware pitcher was made circa 1800 at the pottery of Frederick Carpenter and Jonathan Fenton. It is stamped below the spout in a small font
(We haven't seen this particular font in the "BOSTON" signature before. Interestingly, the "ON" of "BOSTON" sits below the rest of the word.) Most attractive about this pitcher is it's early-style form, with a narrow base, ovoid waist, and multiple-bands of incising above and below the mark. A very rare form for the popular "BOSTON" mark. |
