Description:

This unusually shaped stoneware bowl is decorated all the way around its top area with a cobalt blue swag decoration. It is impressed with the extremely sought after potter's mark, JOHN BELL WAYNESBORO It is slightly ovoid, standing on a distinct foot. It has a classic, thick John Bell rim, as well as a nicely incised line just below the potter's mark. It was made c1850. This bowl form is very rare for stoneware, and is exceptionally desirable, considering its maker.

6" tall.

Condition:

Excellent. 4 chips on the side have burn marks around them and look like they occurred in the making. Otherwise, only slight wear.
