Description:

This very large, yellow, lead-glazed turk's head mold is stamped

JOHN BELL
WAYNESBORO'

which is one of the maker's marks used at the John Bell Pottery in Waynesboro, PA, circa 1850 to 1880. It features the standard, swirled design on the interior with a central tube. Turk's head molds were typically used on 19th century homesteads in making baked goods. This particular mold is easily one of the largest types produced by Bell. The color is an unusual solid yellow. A rare and visually stunning piece of redware.

Size:

5 ½" tall. 10" wide.

Condition:

Very minor wear to top of tube. In-the-making discoloration on side opposite maker's mark.
