Description:

Unglazed redware cream jar, with impressed mark,

I. BELL

This mark was used by John Bell during the 1830's in Chambersburg and Waynesboro, PA., before he began using his more commonly seen, "JOHN BELL" & "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO" stamps (which he started using around 1840). Two nicely incised lines encircle the jar, one above and one below the potter's mark.

Size:

7 ½" tall.

Condition:

A few rim and base chips. Wear on the body of the jar.
