Description:

Expertly made redware canning jar, with bright yellow, evenly applied glaze. Nicely tapered shape, with the bottom noticeably larger than the top. This jar is stamped twice, as follows:

JOHN BELL
(on bottom)

JOHN BELL
WAYNESBORO
(on shoulder).

The stamp on the shoulder is very hard to read, as it is lightly impressed and filled in with glaze. We have attempted to show it in the last photo below.

Nice wax sealer top. Made c1860.
