Scarce 5 Gallon Jar, attributed to Glazier / Huntingdon, PA

Back to Pennsylvania Stoneware

Item #CPGJ01

Description:

This 5 gallon jar is decorated front and back with an abstract cobalt floral design. Although it is not signed, the decoration is virtually identical that on a cobalt and manganese decorated example pictured on page 42 of Glazier Stoneware by Nancy Shedd. It was made sometime between 1831 and 1854.

About 14 ½" tall.

One missing handle. Shallow chipping along outside rim. Some marks on the side, as seen in the photos, that occurred in the making.

$525
