Scarce 5 Gallon Jar, attributed to Glazier / Huntingdon, PA |
||||
Back to Pennsylvania Stoneware |
Item #CPGJ01 |
|||
| Description: |
This 5 gallon jar is decorated front and back with an abstract cobalt floral design. Although it is not signed, the decoration is virtually identical that on a cobalt and manganese decorated example pictured on page 42 of Glazier Stoneware by Nancy Shedd. The distinctive 5 gallon capacity mark is also clearly in the same series as capacity marks seen on signed Glazier pieces. This is a well-decorated, large-sized example of Henry Glazier's work. It was made sometime between 1831 and 1854. |
