Extremely Rare 1 ½ Pint Decorated Jar, Baltimore c1830 |
||||
Back to Maryland Stoneware |
Item #BXJ05 |
|||
| Description: |
This jar was made c1830 in Baltimore, MD, probably at the Morgan and Amoss pottery. Signed examples from this pottery are very hard to find, and although this example is unsigned, it is just as rare. The size of this piece is also extremely rare; it holds only 1 ½ pints of liquid (less an a quart). It is decorated around the entire top with very bright cobalt blue. The clay color is light gray, typical of early Baltimore stoneware; the bright blue is also a typical early Baltimore characteristic. |
