Item #ALNJ04 |

| Description: |
Nice, small sized, ovoid jar, decorated on the top part with rust decoration. Not signed, but definitely made by John Swann of Alexandria, Virginia, c1815. Swann used this unusual technique of decorating his stoneware with actual rust. Most Swann pieces that we have seen are large. This piece is a very attractive, small, one gallon size, which is much more difficult to find than larger pieces. This is a very early piece of Virginia stoneware! |
