Exceptional Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Vase with Multi-Colored-Slip Peacock Decoration, attributed to Arie Meaders, Cleveland, GA, circa 1956-1969, tall, ovoid vase with flared rim, decorated in cobalt and shades of green with a large brushed design of a peacock with extravagant tail, perched on a fence with bushes and grasses below, all against a grayish-glazed ground. Featuring outstanding subject matter, this work is among the finest-decorated vases known by the matriarch of the Meaders family of potters. Excellent condition with two minor rim chips. H 14 1/2".
