Scarce Moravian Copper-Glazed Redware Chicken Caster, Salem, NC origin, circa 1810-1830, molded figure of a chicken with comb, elaborate feather detail, and pierced breast, standing on a mound base. Surface covered in a green lead-and-copper glaze. Provenance: Ex-Waynick Collection, Old Salem, NC. Loss to end of beak. Large chip to comb and tail. Glaze loss to base. A small amount of glaze loss to belly of chicken. H 4".
