Extremely Rare Redware Charger with Profuse Yellow Slip Decoration, Inscribed "Jackson," Norwalk, CT origin, circa 1828-1845, with coggled edge, the interior inscribed in yellow slip with the underscored name, "Jackson," along with heavy looping line decoration above and below. This dish was made to commemorate the seventh President of the United States, Andrew Jackson (1767-1845), possibly as early as his first inauguration in 1829, or as late as 1845, the year of his death. Desirable size, highly unusual presidential name inscription, and wonderful coverage of slip over the dish's surface. Interior with three small filled and colored surface flakes, other minor surface flakes, and light wear. Rim chips. Diam. 14".
